WHAT TO WEAR

There is no dress code, so comfort comes first--whether that means to you personally the latest trend or your old track t-shirt. However, if you're looking for a status quo, I'd recommend:

  • Ladies - Skirts, summer dresses, nice capris/shorts/jeans. For shoes, maybe heels or dressy sandals...
  • Men - Nice slacks/shorts/jeans (depending on your comfort) and a nice top are fine. My experience with men is that they'll wear whatever footwear they want, so I have nothing to offer here!

We'll have exclusive access to the entire boat. The inside area will be air conditioned so you can escape the heat should it be bad. Remember your sunglasses and your camera.

WHAT ARE WE DOING AFTER THE ISLAND GIRL RIDE?

The Island Girl cruise will finish at 9:30 p.m. The party will continue at Huck Finn’s, which is conveniently just a few short steps from the dock! Owner and former classmate Dustin Nimtz and his family are offering us specials on drinks all night.

·         $2 rail mixers

·         $2 domestic bottles

·         You can order appetizers until bar time

·         Live band

Please join your classmates for the after party! If you know people who are unable to make the cruise but still want to attend the festivities, please let them know that Huck Finn’s is our spot.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I buy a ticket at the dock?

YES! It’s been brought to my attention that softball league finals and other circumstances have prohibited people from buying tickets in advance. As a result, tickets will be available for purchase at the dock, at the “last chance” price: $44. If you plan to purchase a ticket at the dock, please bring exact change.

Is there parking?

Yes, but try to car pool if possible. Also, make a plan for getting home. The drinks will be flowing and it’s everyone’s priority to look out for one another’s safety. No drunk drivers.

If you find that you are not safe to drive and do not have a designated driver, ask a bartender about La Crosse’s “Safe Ride” program, which can get you home safe and even back to your car in the morning for free.

Do I have to bring a ticket or payment stub with me?

No. By signing up online, you are automatically on a list. You’ll simply need to check in at the dock to get your boarding pass, complimentary drink ticket and raffle ticket. Again, to ensure everyone can board promptly, please arrive by 7 p.m.

I’m running late. Will the boat wait for me?

Unfortunately, the boat will not wait. Everyone is looking forward to a two-hour cruise and that’s what will be delivered. There are no refunds if you miss the boat, so please give yourself enough time to arrive.

Are there any other events going on besides the Island Girl and Huck Finn’s on Saturday night?

Yes! This weekend marks the fourth annual Onalaska Community Days. There are tons of activities going on all weekend. There will be a carnival, food, beverages, craft fair and more. Enjoy the fun at the American Legion Grounds, 731 Sand Lake Road in Onalaska.  (Note: This is not sponsored by the Class of 1999.)

VERY IMPORTANT: Tickets will NOT be sold at the boat. In order to reserve your spot for the reunion, you MUST purchase your ticket(s) online.

Why are there three ticket prices? Because the number of attendees is difficult to predict, ticket sales are tiered in order to ensure that all expenses are covered. RSVP early and save!

Graduates are welcome to purchase a ticket for a guest who is 21 or older.

Deadline for RSVPs is August 20, 2009.

If you have questions about registration, payment or other general inquiries, please contact Kristin Johnson at Kristin@uwalumni.com.

Thank you!
